Your South African Walking Safari Experience

This 5 Day African Bush Walking Safari is for the adventurous traveller who is keen to experience new things. Experience the bush on foot during this authentic safari getaway.

You will be accommodated in a cozy tent in the vast lands of the Balule Private Game Reserve, which forms part of the renowned Kruger National Park. The reserve is home to an abundance of wildlife, which include all of the Big Five and a profusion of 220 bird species.

Safari walks will broaden your bush knowledge as expert game rangers gives you insight on the different fauna and flora species that reside in Kruger. All safari walks are designed to give you the best bush experience, and safety precautions are taken before you explore the bush. Upon arrival at the camp, your guide will give you an introductory to tell you what you can expect from your 5-day bush walking safari.

Day 1: Johannesburg - Balule Nature Reserve

You will board a flight from O.R Tambo International Airport to Eastgate Airport in Hoedspruit, where you will meet a lodge representative who will take you on an excursion to your lodge. A luxury safari tent, in the unfenced Balule Nature Reserve, will be your accommodation for the next night. Individual chalets have bathrooms en-suite and electricity.

There is an open platform bar area overlooking the reserve and a plunge pool for hot afternoons plus an open air dinner boma with viewing deck. Upon arrival your guide will inform you what you will encounter during the next five days. Nibble a light lunch, minutes after your arrival, and meet your guide for a game spotting adventure. A safari walk and game drive combination, just after lunch, will serve as a teaser of what you can expect during your stay. Learn about the abundance of antelope species and the profusion of birds.

Embark on a night drive with an expert guide and experience the bush by night, as you witness the nocturnal animals getting ready to hunt. Indulge a sumptuous dinner and tuck yourself in at your comfortable luxury tent accommodation.

Day 2: Balule Nature Reserve

Enjoy a snack before embarking on an early morning guided walking safari. Witness the wildlife of the Greater Kruger Park Area. Return to camp to enjoy a hearty breakfast before being transferred to your next tented camp in Balule Nature Reserve. This authentic bush camp is more rustic than the previous nights' accommodation, and has been designed to fully integrate with the natural surroundings.

Four fully serviced safari tents have the use of 2 open-air bathrooms each with showers, flush toilets and hot water. Other facilities include a kitchen tent, boma, splash pool and a lounge deck with beautiful views. Embark on an afternoon game drive to see more spectacular African wildlife. return to camp for a meal around the boma under the African sky.

Day 3 - 4: Balule Nature Reserve

Rusks are best enjoyed when they are dunked in aromatic coffee or tea, this will be your morning snack before your morning safari walk. Venture on an early morning safari trail and enjoy the scenic views of the bushveld before the break of dawn. Spoor track the predators that roamed the bush the previous night.

During walking safaris, you will learn about the smaller creatures you won't usually notice on game excursions. Expand your flora knowledge by learning about the resident plant species and their medicinal values. After a productive morning of game spotting and expanding your bush knowledge, enjoy a hearty breakfast and revitalize your strength.

Spend your afternoon leisure bird watching from the comfort of the camp. There is an estimate of 220 bird species that soar through the Balule skies. Embark on an afternoon safari walk and expand your bush knowledge or a safari drive to track hippo, zebra, elephant, giraffe, lion and cheetah can act as an optional afternoon activity.

Witness the majestic African sunset before heading back to camp to enjoy dinner. Savor a sumptuous meal and freshen up before you call it a night.

Day 5: Balule Nature Reserve - Johannesburg

On the morning of your last day, embark on your last walking safari. Inhale the fresh air of the bushveld for a last time as you add more to your knowledge of the bush. Enjoy a hearty breakfast and be on your way to Hoedspruit Airport. Board your flight to O.R Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, where you will meet your onward travel arrangements.
