The Mara North Conservancy is a private wildlife concession bordering the Maasai Mara National Reserve, in the south western corner of Kenya.
The conservancy is home to the Big Five and the annual highlight of the region is the Great Wildebeest Migration, a natural phenomenon that sees the mass migration of large herds of wildebeest and zebra. From casual grazing on the plains to the dramatic river crossings through crocodile-infested waters, the spectacle is an unforgettable experience.
In addition to the Big Five, game viewing in the conservancy may result in sightings of giraffe, zebra, elephant, impala, jackal, mongoose and waterbuck.
The vegetation of the conservancy is predominantly grassland and riverine forest. Distinctive acacia trees decorate the open plains of the Mara. There is a recorded amount of about 95 species of mammals and 550 bird species.
Getting to Saruni Mara
By air
Mara North Conservancy can be reached in a flight to/from Nairobi and lasts 40-45 minutes. This Maasai Mara safari lodge has a private airstrip, situated a short 5km drive from the camp.
By road
The conservancy can be reached via a 5-6 hour drive from Nairobi, a distance of 270km away.
