Nyumbu Camp is situated near the Talek Gate of the Masai Mara Reserve in Kenya.
Nyumbu Camp is located on the Ngila Plains at the edge of the Masai Mara Reserve in Kenya. Game viewing starts right from the camp itself and the setting is ideal for the great wildebeest migration.
The land on which Nyumbu Camp is located is a 500 acre conservancy with a tranquil view of hill and plains in a prime wildlife area. The landscape is made up of rolling savannahs dotted with patchy shrubs and bush thickets.
Nyumbu Camp takes an active part in working with the local community and conservancy trust. Local staff are employed by the camp and the community landowners benefit directly from tourism.
The camp is situated in an unfenced wilderness area. Guards patrol Nyumbu camp on a 24 hour basis and also escort guests in the evenings between the lounge / dining areas and the tents, but guests are asked to stay in their tent after dark.
How to get there
Masai Mara Reserve in Kenya can be accessed by air and road. There are 2 scheduled flights out of Nairobi Wilson Airport to Ol Kiombo airstrip (mid morning and mid afternoon).
A daily service from Mombasa departs early in the morning and returns at lunch time. There are daily services from Naivasha in the afternoon as well as from Nanyuki and Samburu in the morning. The camp is a 30 minute game drive from the airstrip (23km / 14 miles).
Guests can reach Nyumbu Camp by road from Nairobi on a 6 hour drive.
