After an estimated 4-hour drive arrive at your desert oasis near the Namib-Naukluft National Park. Enjoy panoramic views of the desert landscape from the main house that is set on a hill. Escape the midday heat with a refreshing dip in the pool.
(300 km / approx. 4-5 hours driving time)

Day 2: Explore the Sossusvlei dunes

Spend the day exploring the classic desert scenery of Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert. Dunes, canyons, vast gravel plains and mountains ranges are some of the striking scenery that you can expect. Walk to Dead Vlei with its large expanse of bleached cracked clay and skeletal camel thorn trees scattered around, contrasting with a backdrop of huge orange-red dunes that make for superb photographic opportunities. Optional activities include guided horse trail rides in the Namib Desert. Return to camp in the evening and enjoy a drink at the bar as you watch the sun set over the Namib Desert.

Day 3 - 4: Discover the coastal town of Swakopmund

Depart Sossusvlei stopping en-route at Solitaire before continuing through the desert across the gravel plains to the port town of Walvis Bay in Namibia. Visit the lagoon, which is a protected wetland site, where you may see the many species of birds including flamingos, pelicans and the endemic Damara tern.

Continue onto the quaint town of Swakopmund, full of historic buildings. Your accommodation for the next two nights is situated in the town centre, a five minute walk from the beach and main shopping areas. Several optional activities available from sand boarding, quad biking, scenic flight over the Skeleton Coast and a dolphin boat cruise to name but a few.

Day 5 - 6: Open skies and granite domes of Damaraland

This morning on your Namibia self-drive tour you can drive north up the Skeleton Coast to the Cape Cross Seal Colony where you can spot up to 100 000 Cape fur seals. Other stops en-route include a visit to Twyfelfontein to see ancient rock paintings, the Petrified Forest and Organ Pipes.

After a 6-hour drive with multiple stops relax at your Damaraland accommodation. At the end of the day ascend down the hill to a viewing platform with sweeping views where with a drink in hand you can watch the sun set across the mopane woodlands. Your accommodation for the next two nights is a good base from which to explore the rich sandstone treasure of Damaraland.
