Location of Kapani Lodge, South Luangwa National Park

Kapani is a privately owned Zambia safari lodge located in the Mfuwe area, on a large lagoon beside the Luangwa River.

As Zambia's premier wildlife destination, the South Luangwa National Park covers an area of 9050kms2 in the east of the country. The park is well known for its unspoilt beauty and varied habitats that support one of Africa's richest concentrations of game and birdlife. Over 40 species of large mammal and some 400 species of bird thrive in this last haven of wild Africa.

The meandering Luangwa River with its many ox-bow lagoons and shady ebony groves forms the eastern boundary of the Luangwa National Park, whilst the western horizon is dominated by the spectacular Muchinga escarpment, rising almost a kilometre from the valley floor.

The change in season experienced every few months in Zambia sees the drying up of the river and lagoons, and then the periods of rain result in the green season (December to April) and its river excursions. Despite the altering landscapes, the region’s game viewing remains exceptional.

The most efficient and enjoyable access is to charter into Mfuwe airstrip either from Lusaka or from the Lower Zambezi (Kayila, Royal or Jeki airstrips).
