Ruaha Region in Tanzania incorporates the Ruaha National Park, which is the largest park in Tanzania, covering a staggering 22,000 km with a distinct aura of pristine and untouched wilderness.
The name Ruaha derives from the Great Ruaha River which flows along the South Eastern margin of the park is often the main focus area for excellent game viewing. Home to the greatest population of elephants than any other East African National Park, Ruaha high diversity of wildlife is a direct result of its ideal ecological habitats ranging from acacia savannah of East Africa to miombo woodland belt of Southern Africa.
Antelope are consistently harried by Ruaha population of over 20 lion prides, cheetahs hunting on the open grassland, leopards hiding in the thickets, striped and spotted hyena, as well as several conspicuous packs of the highly endangered African wild dog.
