Safarihoek Lodge's Top Activities

If your must-see animal list includes rhino, your Namibia safari dreams may very well come true at Safarihoek. Game viewing activities take place in Etosha National Park.

Etosha Game viewing

In this region of Namibia, game viewing is consistently good, particularly during the dry winter months when animals congregate around the permanent (and dwindling) waterholes. During this time, the tensions rise, as thirsty animals fight for a drinking spot. You needn’t venture too far from the pool or air-conditioned wine lounge to catch all the action either. At Safarihoek Lodge, the wildlife comes straight to you with the waterhole just yonder. When night falls, and the floodlights get turned on, grab a cosy spot around the fireplace to watch night-visitors arrive almost if right on cue.

Game Drives and Bush Walks

As for safari activities to get you out and about, there’s more than a few. Take your pick from 4x4 morning game drives, afternoon sundowner drives, night drives and interpretive bush walks. Whichever you choose during your stay, be sure to keep a keen eye out for large herds of elephant frequently seen ambling along, together with black and white rhino, oryx, eland and other antelope, and lion. Birdwatching, particularly at the waterholes, is always incredibly productive.

The Safarihoek Hide

The Safaihoek hide is truly a unique feat in Namibia. Overlooking a large waterhole, it is built on two levels, with wheelchair access to the upper level with a toilet (for those longer viewing days). The lower, ground level is set up for serious photographers with a charging station with international adaptors, areas for gear storage and an eye-level view of the action. We’ll also mention that the hide features day beds, and a refrigerator (again, for those longer viewing days).
