Activities at Camp Amalinda

The bird watching, especially for raptors is exceptional. You can track the Black and White Rhino on foot and horse riding in the park.

One of the highlights of a safari holiday at Camp Amalinda is tracking Black and White Rhino on foot - set out to track one of Africa’s most endangered species. Around Camp Amalinda, guests can enjoy fabulous bird watching - the Matobo Hills are home to the greatest variety and density of raptors anywhere in the world including the rare and endangered Verreaux's Eagle.

Game drives and Bushmen Rock Art

Of course traditional game drives in search of the regions rich and diverse wildlife while on game drives. Camp Amalinda guests can also participate in a guided tour of some of the ancient rock-art sites in the Matobo Hills, a reminder of the Bushman (San people), southern Africa's earliest human inhabitants, and the first of many to be drawn to the power of the Matobo Hills.

Rhodes Grave and World’s View

Cecil Rhodes, the driving force behind Britain's colonial ambitions in Africa (as well as founder of De Beers and the Rhodes Scholarship), was also drawn by the spirituality of the Matobo Hills, and visitors can marvel at the vistas from his grave at Malindidzimu 'the Place of Spirits' to the Ndebele people. Rhodes referred to the place as World’s View and it is still sometimes referred to as such.

Camp Amalinda’s Heritage Spa and Sauna offers a number of relaxing wellness treatments in the peace and tranquillity of this mystical place. There are a number of treatments on offer such as Hot Stone Therapy, Shiatsu massage, manicures and pedicures. They also offer a number of other beauty and wellness treatments. End the session on a high note by spending some time in the Sauna.
