Day 1: Chief's Camp, Okavango Delta, BotswanaArrival at Maun Airport, the 'Gateway to the Okavango Delta'!
With some of the world's largest National Parks and vast unspoilt landscapes, Botswana is a wildlife paradise just waiting to be discovered. The Okavango, the world's largest inland Delta, the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, and the National Park cover an area the size of Portugal. The Chobe National Park boasts the world's highest concentration of Elephant and the Central Kalahari, home of the nomadic San People and the majestic black-maned lions. The Okavango Delta, Jewel of the Kalahari!
You will be welcomed by our representatives who will assist you with custom formalities and show you to your light charter aircrafts who will be transferring you to the lodges. The journey into the wilderness of the Okavango takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes and upon arrival at Chief's Camp's private airstrip, you will be welcomed by one of the rangers and transferred in 4x4 vehicle to the lodge.
On arrival at the lodge the friendly local staff will greet you with cheerful songs and dancing. Assistance will be offered for check-in. Your guide will then escort you to your luxury tented accommodation. The en-suite facilities, large lounge area and private viewing deck will make you feel at home. Pending on your arrival time you will be treated to a hearty lunch and might have time to relax by the swimming pool.
Your afternoon game activity will take you out on a mokoro (dugout canoe) into the waterways of the Delta (water permitting) or alternatively a game drive in the custom-built open 4x4 vehicle (individual seating). This is an ideal activity should you be a keen bird watcher, wildlife photographer or first time visitor to the Okavango Delta! Returning to camp at dusk you are invited to enjoy a 'sundowner' in the bar prior/after freshening up for dinner. Day 2: Chief's Camp, Okavango Delta, BotswanaPrior to your early morning game activity, you will wake early with a fresh brew of tea or coffee in your room. You will have a choice of either a mokoro trip or a morning game drive in the Mombo area, an area renowned for its abundance of wildlife - ensuring plenty of excellent game viewing opportunities. On a mokoro ride, for example, you will enjoy an experience unparalleled anywhere in the world.
Gliding through papyrus-fringed channels (formed by Hippos) you experience the feeling that the Chief of the Batawana himself might have felt! Today you are armed with a camera and binoculars and may be rewarded with birds in a rainbow of colours and indigenous wildlife found exclusively in the Delta. Returning to camp around mid-morning you will be in time for a sumptuous brunch. A dining experience not to be missed, a fusion of African and Western cuisine, superbly blended into a Pan-African style of cooking! The day is then at your leisure prior to your late afternoon game activity and dinner. Day 3: Stanley's Camp, Okavango Delta, BotswanaA fresh brew of tea or coffee will begin your day before you choose your last game activity before departing Chief's Camp. Intriguing are the different habitats that you encounter driving through the Chief's Camp area: floodplain grasslands, riverine forest, woodlands, savannah and scrub. One may pass Elephants, Giraffes, Warthogs, Impala and sometimes even Lion, whilst walking through the different vegetation. Returning to camp around mid-morning in time for brunch. Transfer from the lodge to the Chief's Camp airstrip for your charter flight to Stanley's Camp.
On arrival at Stanley's Camp private Airstrip, you will be met by your ranger and transferred into the lodge in open 4x4 vehicles. The Staff of Stanley's Camp will be waiting to welcome you and show you to your tents. Stanley's is a small luxury camp consisting of 8 classic styled safari tents. The delicately appointed tents exude classic Africa; hand crafted beds dressed with the finest linen, antique furniture individually selected and oriental carpets that give a delightful glimpse at colonial Africa.
Each accommodation unit offers en-suite facilities and a private balcony. Electricity is supplied by a combination of silent packed generator and battery system, allowing 24-hour power supply.
After having had the time to refresh in the comfort of your rooms, your guide will take you on a discovery of Stanley's private concession. Game drives at Stanley's are conduced in open vehicles that offer unencumbered views. The vehicles have been custom built and offer individual seating. The accompanying professional safari guides are amongst the best in Botswana. Return to camp in early evening in time for a scrumptious dinner. Day 4: Stanley's Camp, Okavango Delta, BotswanaEarly morning wake up call with fresh tea/coffee and biscuits served in your room followed by early morning game drive.
Set in an amphitheatre of ebony and sausage trees on the Southern Tip of Chief's Island, Stanley's Camp sits amidst 260 000 acres of untamed and untrammelled African Bush. Bordering the southern section of the famous Moremi Game Reserve, this private concession is located by definition in seasonal Delta. Game viewing in the area is extremely good with excellent numbers of predators and plains-game on offer. The area houses one of the largest Buffalo populations in the Okavango Delta, in the dry season, can concentrate into a herd in excess of 2000 heads.
Return to camp after the morning game activity for a hearty brunch. Afternoon at your leisure enjoying the facilities on offer.
Mid-afternoon high tea will be served prior to your next game drive which may extend into a night drive should you wish so. Return to camp for dinner and overnight. Day 5: Stanley's Camp, Okavango Delta, BotswanaEarly morning wake up call with fresh tea/coffee and biscuits served in the room. Pending on your charter times, you will have time to go on a mokoro excursion (water permitting) this morning exploring the rivulets and channels of the Delta prior to returning to Camp for Breakfast and transfer to the airstrip for your charter to your onward destination. PLEASE NOTE:Luggage: When travelling in the Okavango Delta by light air craft, the luggage limit is 12 kgs and is to preferably be packed in a soft bag. The 12 kg luggage limit does not include hand luggage and photographic equipment, which needs to be kept to a reasonable weight and quantities.
