Located on the Ol Choro Oiroua Group Ranch, northwest Masai Mara Reserve in Kenya, the camp is positioned at the forest edge in a lawned grove of trees, overlooking the Mara plains.
Richard’s Camp has a beautiful location overlooking the Mara plains, where between July and October every year, the Great Migration moves through the Masai Mara Reserve in Kenya to Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park. Many species of wildlife are regular visitors to the camp.
Richard's Camp is owned and operated by Richard Roberts and his girlfriend, designer Liz Fusco who moved to Kenya in 1993. Richard was raised in the Masai Mara Reserve in Kenya from the age of 3 and has developed an intimate knowledge of the Mara and its people. Richard’s Camp is located in an area with a minimal risk of malaria.
This Kenya safari lodge is situated on land that is owned and managed by the Maasai people themselves under the name of The Ol Choro Oirouwa Wildlife Management and Conservation Association. A part of every ‘client per night’ fee is put back into the community and local projects.
The camp is located approximately 180km (112 miles) West of Nairobi. Within 20 minutes drive from the camp is the Mara Shikar airstrip for scheduled airline services, which run twice daily from Nairobi Wilson airport.
Richard’s Camp is about 4-hours from Nairobi through The Great Rift Valley.
There is a small airfield adjacent to the camp for private charters.
