Location of Namib Desert Lodge

Namib Desert Lodge in Namibia is located amidst fossilized dunes in the oldest desert on earth, a short distance from the Sossusvlei clay pans.

Sesriem, the gateway to Sossusvlei, is located a mere 60km from the lodge, guests can climb the world’s highest dunes and the region’s clay pans. The Namib rarely experiences rain, instead, moisture is received by the coastal fogs that occur on a regular basis. Summers in the Namib are very hot, and the winter months are surprisingly chilly.

The flora of the region is characterized by grasses, herbs, shrubs and trees that form along dry rivers. These dried-up rivers form oasis lines. The most commonly seen animals in the region are oryx antelope, springbok and ostrich.
