Mvuu Lodge is luxurious and intimate Lodge in a stunning secluded setting on the banks of the Shire River. “Mvuu” means Hippo in the local Tsonga language, and there are many pods of hippo resident in the river. The camp has just 8 spacious en-suite tents set among the thick riverine vegetation.
A raised thatched dining area is connected to the lodge by wooden walkways. There is a stunning natural-rock swimming pool which is perfect for a refreshing swim. The whole camp is set against a backdrop of indigenous yellow-barked fever trees.
Liwonde National Park has plenty of game including beautiful Sable antelope; they have had outstanding success with the reintroduction of Black Rhino. Evening game viewing by boat is a specialty, as are bicycle trips to a nearby Malawian village.
