This Malawi safari accommodation in Liwonde National Park is a beautiful riverside camp. The park is considered to be the 'finest park in the whole of Malawi' and claims to be the 'best birding location in Southern Africa'. Mvuu Camp offers an exciting bush experience and has a down-to-earth atmosphere.
The accommodation consists of a choice of en-suite chalets or comfortable walk-in tents. The thatched lounge looks out onto the Shire River and dinner is often served in the open-air boma. A soft grass lawn stretches down to the river, and the wooden riverside bench is a great place to sit and watch the multitude of birds that come down to the sandbanks.
During the dry months, herds of Elephants can be seen from the bar or the open-boma. Liwonde National Park has plenty of game, including beautiful Sable Antelope, and has had success with their Black Rhino Sanctuary. The Rhino have been breeding well ever since they were introduced in 1997.
Evening game viewing by boat is this camps specialty - a great way to see hippo and the wide variety of local birdlife. Enjoy sundowner drinks arranged by the lodge while viewing wildlife, particularly bathing Elephants and Hippos on the Shire River. Morning game drives led by experienced rangers are a great way to see the Lion, Elephant and Buffalo. While the guided bush walks are a great way to explore the region.
