Best time to travel to the Masai MaraThe Masai Mara is a year round safari destination and the game viewing is not affected by the rains. The Great Wildebeest Migration passes through the Mara from July through to October.
Getting ThereKenya's capital Nairobi is the center where most visitors will arrive at for a Masai Mara safari. A number of international airlines fly in to Jomo Kenyatta International. Depending on the arrival time in Nairobi an overnight in Nairobi is recommended before the transfer to Wilson Airport for the flight to the Masai Mara.
The Masai Mara is a scenic flight over the Great Rift Valley from Wilson Airport in Nairobi. There are a number of airfields in the Mara that service the lodges. Flights from Moi Airport in Mombasa are also available.
The road transfer from Nairobi to the Masai Mara takes up to five hours through dramatic landscapes. Overnighting at places on the way is recommended.
