8 Day Zambian Explorer Safari, Zambia

Day 1: Sussi Lodge, Zambia

Sussi and Chuma Lodge is situated on the northern edge of the Mosi Oa Tunya Park, where luxurious treehouses hide discreetly amongst giant Ebony trees on a sweeping bend of the Zambezi River.

During the next 2 days your activities will include: game drives with experienced guides, visits to the Falls by yourself, boat cruises, fishing and an optional choice of all the 'adrenaline' extras for which the area is famous. Overnight at Sussi Lodge.

Day 2: Sussi Lodge, Zambia

Another day of excitement and romance on the banks of Africa’s most spectacular river. Overnight at Sussi Lodge.

Day 3: Lechwe Plains Tented Camp, Lochinvar National Park, Zambia

Depart by private charter to the magnificent World Heritage Wetlands Site of Lochinvar National Park to Lechwe Plains Tented Camp. Each individual tent has all the comforts and privacy you require. From here you can explore the vast wetlands noted for thousands of the endemic Kafue Lechwe, Buffalo, Zebra, Wildebeest and Oribi graze the shoreline and surrounding grassy plains.

However the real drawcard is the birdlife; it’s a birdwatcher’s paradise with 428 recorded species ranging from the flamboyant Flamingo and Pelican through a boggling array of Waterfowl and waders to over 50 species of raptors. The sight of these huge flocks dipping and swooping in a continual wave over the water is not to be missed. Overnight at Lechwe Plains Tented Camp.

Day 4: Lechwe Plains Tented Camp, Lochinvar National Park, Zambia

A day for further exploration of the floodplains and surrounds. Other activities include a cultural village trip by banana boat into Nyimba Fishing Village, walking on the open plains, mokoro trips and fishing. Overnight at Lechwe Plains Tented Camp.

Day 5: Chichele Presidential Lodge or Puku Ridge Tented Camp, South Luangwa National Park, Zambia

Depart after breakfast by private charter for your flight to Mfuwe. Experts have called South Luangwa National Park one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in the world, not surprisingly since the concentrations of game around the Luangwa River and its ox-bow lagoons are dramatic.

In addition the topography of the area make it ideal for walking safaris allowing guests to explore the river and its tributaries in the care of an experienced guide. The Park is noted for its big game species particularly Leopard, Lion and Elephant and a whole host of antelope species. Overnight at Chichele Presidential Lodge or Puku Ridge Tented Camp.

Day 6 & 7: Chichele Presidential Lodge or Puku Ridge Tented Camp, South Luangwa National Park, Zambia

Two more days spent walking and driving in this special sanctuary. Overnight at Chichele Presidential Lodge or Puku Ridge Tented Camp.

Day 8: Mfuwe, Zambia

Transfer back to Mfuwe for your flight to Lusaka International Airport and onward connections.
