Lake Masek Tented Camp
Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Tanzania

The Ndutu area is a great base from which to explore the short-grass plains of the southern Serengeti and the plains of the northern section of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area on a Tanzania safari.

Your Ngorongoro Safari in Tanzania Experience

  • Luxury eco-friendly lodge
  • Camps - unique location is witness to the wildebeest migration (December - April)
  • Great wildlife - lion, cheetah, elephants, leopard - in close proximity of the camp
  • Opportunity to walk with Maasai guides
  • Within close reach of the Ngorongoro Crater and Olduvai Gorge

Lake Masek Tented Camp is set to the east of the two saline lakes in the Ndutu area and is the ideal place to experience a Tanzania safari. This luxury tented camp has great views over Lake Masek and its unique location bears witness to the Wildebeest migration every year. Guests can enjoy views of hippos and flamingos from their private verandas.

Lake Masek Tented Camp is the perfect location for viewing the wildebeest migration during the months of January to March. Typically from June through November, the resident animals converge around Ndutu's waterholes and marshes - elephants, giraffes, impalas, predators and a profusion of birds.

Guests have the opportunity to enjoy wonderful vistas of Lake Masek from the comfort of their own verandas. Hear hippos grunting in the mud and see an array of birdlife including flamingos.

The Oldupai Museum is approximately an hour's drive away, and the Ngorongoro Crater rim is about two hours drive away. In the Ndutu area there are marshlands, lakes (Lake Ndutu and Lake Masek) and huge expanses of woodlands all this surrounded by the Serengeti's grassy plains. 4WD game drives are popular and there are guided walking safaris in the area.
