Kenya is considered the home of the African safari and is still the first name mooted when people are planning their first safari. Kenya's most famous attraction is undoubtedly the Masai Mara where the annual wildebeest migration passes through on its wanderings.

Date of independence:

12.12.1963. Kenya was one of the most infamous of colonies of Africa due to its colonialists' excesses. Kenya gained independence from Britain after a few years of guerilla warfare, also known as the Mau Mau insurgency. The first president of independent Kenya, Jomo Kenyatta, called for national unity.
