12.12.1963. Kenya was one of the most infamous of colonies of Africa due to its colonialists' excesses. Kenya gained independence from Britain after a few years of guerilla warfare, also known as the Mau Mau insurgency. The first president of independent Kenya, Jomo Kenyatta, called for national unity.
