This Four Day Game Walk Trail in the Shindzela Tented Safari Camp, is ideal for the traveller who seeks adventure by experiencing three nights in a canvas safari-style tent and tracking an abundance of wildlife.
Located in the 53 392 hectares of the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, lies this African treasure known as the Shindzela Tented Safari Camp. The unfenced territory between the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve and the Greater Kruger Park allows the abundance of wildlife to flourish through the bush. An estimated 40 mammal species, among them are the renowned Big Five, roam the bush and a profusion of over 360 species of bird life soar the skies of the majestic Timbavati Private nature Reserve.
The main area overlooks a dry riverbed where you can spot the abundance of animal that gather for a drink. Sleep in comfortable safari tents that are built on wooden decks with amenities that include an en-suite bathroom, mosquito nets.
Track wildlife on foot with the help of an expert guide. Explore the bush in safari drives that are conducted in safari vehicles early in the morning or late at night. The reserve is permitted to do off-road sightseeings, allowing you to get a better view of the abundance of fauna that prowl the bush.
Day 1: Johannesburg - Timbavati Private Game Reserve
A one hour flight gets you from O.R Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg to the Eastgate Airport in Hoedspruit. A representative will be waiting to meet you and transfer you to the camp. Upon arrival at Shindzela Tented Safari Camp in Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, the staff will help you settle in to your authentic room - a canvas tent. Each tent boasts a thatched roof and porch, solar lighting, private en-suite bathroom with shower, hand basin and flush toilet and mosquito netting.
Enjoy a delicious lunch and sip on a refreshing beverage to gain vitality for the game spotting adventure that you are about to embark on. Search for the Big Five with the help of your ranger as you explore the bush in a specialized safari vehicle. Your guide will help you track game. Expect off-road driving that will enable you to get a closer glimpse at majestic elephant, rare rhino, prides of lion, herds of buffalo and other fauna.
Witness the African sunset while sipping a drink and enjoying a few snacks. As soon as darkness falls, you will drive through the bush to track nocturnal animals. Upon returning to the lodge, savor mouthwatering South African dishes. Special dietary requirements are catered to if you mention it to the safari chefs in advance.
Day 2 - 3: Timbavati Private Game Reserve
A soft knock on the door and a hot beverage will indicate the start of a new day. Freshen up and get ready for your morning safari walk with an expert ranger. Embark on an exciting photo journey and learn about the vegetation and the smaller creatures that also call the Greater Kruger their home. Encounter a myriad of game during your walking safari among hyena, jackal, giraffe, hippo, wild dog, zebra, kudu, and impala. Return back to camp and enjoy a full English breakfast and other sumptuous delicacies.
Spend your afternoon leisure around the dry river bed and soak up the sun. Enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by the safari chef, served in the camp dining room area to boost your energy levels for another round of game spotting fun. Venture on an afternoon game drive with an expert tracker and your experienced game ranger. Track predators as they get ready to hunt their prey. Savor a traditional South African braai (barbeque) followed with dessert. Drift off to sleep in your luxurious tent.
Day 4: Timbavati Private Game Reserve - Johannesburg
Savor a delicious breakfast prepared by the safari chef after the last mornings walking safari. Gather your belongings to board your flight from the airstrip in Hoedspruit to O.R Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. At the airport you will meet your onward travelling arrangements.Included
