Victoria Falls is Africa's undisputed "Adventure Capital", a Natural Wonder of the World, a World Heritage Site and the largest curtain of falling water in the world…Be prepared to get wet and experience a series of adrenaline rushes of gigantic proportions!
Your days on this 4 day classic tour of the Victoria Falls will be filled with adventure, while the nights are comforted by your luxurious room at The Victoria Falls Hotel. Your room has an en-suite bathroom as well as a range of modern amenities for added comfort.
Today you board your flight from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls International Airport in Zimbabwe. On arrival in Zimbabwe, you will be met by a tour representative and transferred to Victoria Falls Hotel where you will stay for the duration of your visit. Start your Victoria Falls adventure by bungee jumping off the Victoria Falls Bridge.
This experience will introduce you to experience 111 meters of sheer adrenalin, as you plummet towards the mighty Zambezi River. The perfect setting of the Victoria Falls behind you and the River Gorge in front and down below you - this is without a doubt one of the most spectacular jumps in the world. You will have approximately four seconds of free fall and speeds up to 120km/hr. Solo or tandem jumps are done.
As the Victoria Bridge is suspended between two countries, this is the only place in the world that you get to jump in “no-man's land.” After you have jumped, a recovery operator will be lowered to you and he will attach a recovery line to your body harness.
Back at the hotel and after freshening up, you will attend a Zimbabwean boma dinner. This feast of traditional cuisine and unique culture will allow you to interact with the local people. Join in on some traditional dancing or let the Sangoma (witchdoctor) reveal your fortune to you.
After breakfast at the hotel, depart on your full day white water rafting trip. Acclaimed as the wildest one-day whitewater run in the world, the Zambezi River is also recognized by rafting and kayaking enthusiasts as one of the top ten paddling rivers in the world.
Every year, approximately 50 000 people enjoy white water rafting on the Zambezi, with distances between rapids varying from 100 metres to 2 kms. The river drops about 400 ft over the 24 km covered in the one-day raft trip and the depth of the river can reach 200 ft. You will travel in the finest river rafts to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip. Guides are fully trained professionals and all hold valid advanced first aid certificates.
A generous lunch is provided at a picturesque spot on the banks of the river. After lunch you will continue with the rafting into the afternoon. Sip on ice-cold beverages at the top of the Gorge, to end off your day on the rapids. You might see black eagle, augur buzzard, black stork, pied and giant kingfisher and red winged starling during your rafting and sightings of the rare Taita Falcon are not uncommon.
Enjoy an evening at leisure in Victoria Falls, indulging in fine cuisine or trying your luck at the casino. Retire to bed early after your strenuous day on the river.
Take a walk on the wild side as you explore the bush alongside the king of the jungle and interact with elephants. Your morning safari with the lions of the Lion Rehabilitation Program will proceed after a continental breakfast. The lions are unrestrained and roam free as you join them on a walk through riverine vegetation and African bush on the banks of the Masuwe River. The lion encounter is fully supervised and professionally managed by a qualified and experienced team. The lion cubs range from three to sixteen months of age and you will experience first- hand the behaviour of this threatened African big cat species.
In the afternoon, you will bond with elephants first hand by walking with them through the bush. You may see other wild elephant as well as buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and other plains game. Each elephant has its own handler and you will witness the elephant's incredible skills and intelligence. End off a day of perfection as you stare into a perfect African sunset.
The evening will take you on a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. The boat will head off downstream, meandering through the islands, and your guide will describe the flora and fauna as well as the prolific bird life and wildlife along the riverbanks.
Bird enthusiasts will be rewarded with sightings such as the African Fin foot, Open-billed Storks, Yellow-billed Storks and Sacred Ibis. The cruise is conducted at a slow pace for you to enjoy the relaxed ambience and the beauty of the mighty Zambezi River. Capture the silhouette of a hippo emerging against a red Zambezi sunset, and raise a toast to the wild beauty of Africa.
Today you will enjoy a trip to Livingstone Island in the middle of the Zambezi River and enjoy the views during a picnic lunch. Travel by boat to the island and listen to a brief history talk before swimming across a channel, crossing a rocky outcrop and jumping into the 'Devils Pool' - a rock pool at the very top of the Falls. From here you will be right next to the main flow and by lifting yourself onto the rocky outcrop, you can see to the bottom of the Victoria Falls. The views of the Falls are simply stunning from this vantage point.
Please note that this trip is subject to water levels and if the water is too high the trips will not run for safety reasons. Swimming in the rock pool is only possible in the drier season when water levels are sufficiently low.
This afternoon you will experience the awe-inspiring wonder of the Falls on a guided tour of the fauna and flora of the majestic Victoria Falls. Afterwards, you will dive into a cloud of adrenaline. The Flying Fox involves taking a running jumping into thin air before soaring horizontally through the air over the mighty Zambezi River. This Cable Slide or 'Foofie Slide' is the longest in the world and involves hurtling 425 metres across the gorge at a speed of 106 kms.
