Enjoy a spectacular African safari as you visit two countries in an 11 day tour of Zambia and Malawi. Accommodated in a variety of safari lodges, you will experience an authentic African wilderness without sacrificing any creature comforts. Look forward to viewing the game of the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia before lazing on the beaches of Lake Malawi.
Days 1 - 2: South Luangwa National Park, Zambia
Upon your arrival at Mfuwe International Airport, a lodge representative will welcome you and deliver you to Nkwali Camp via a road transfer. Check in to your spacious en-suite chalet at this intimate safari lodge and enjoy views over the Luangwa River and a location close to the South Luangwa National Park.
Your stay at the camp will keep you entertained with a variety of activities and game viewing excursions. Day and special night game drives are available at the safari lodge, providing you with an unfiltered view of the free-roaming wildlife from a specialized 4x4 safari vehicle. Wildlife species that are commonly spotted include Elephant and the Thornicroft Giraffe.
Get closer to the various facets of the bush alongside a trained guide on a walking safari. During a visit to the Wildlife Education Centre, you will be exposed to important facts about nature and the conservation thereof. Seasonal boating occurs between December and April and is the opportune time to explore the lagoons for a unique game viewing experience.
A visit to Kawaza Village will create an opportunity to gain insight into the everyday lives of the local inhabitants and enjoy cultural interactions when visiting the small shops and markets. Zambia is well known for its locally manufactured hand-painted textiles, ideal for a souvenir or as guests for those back home. After a day of adventure, return to the lodge's swimming pool before enjoying a delicious meal at the shared dining area.
Days 3 - 4: Nsefu Sector, Zambia
A transfer game drive will deliver you to Luangwa River, where representatives of Nsefu Camp will meet you and take you on either a boat or road transfer to the safari camp. Settle into your en-suite rondavel and enjoy views of the river from your private wooden verandah.
Your days at Nsefu Camp can be spent viewing the abundant wildlife during game viewing excursions such as day and night game dives, walking safaris and seasonal boating on the river. Village tours to Kawaza are a popular activity and can be made even more special with purchases of the local tribal textiles. The Wildlife Education Centre will teach you important facts about the wilderness as well as how to conserve the environment.
Watch the herds of Elephant, Antelope and Zebra approach the waters while you indulge in a freshly-prepared meal served in the dining area. Post-dinner drinks can be enjoyed at the bar and sitting area.
Days 5 - 7: Majete Wildlife Reserve, Malawi
Depart from Nsefu Camp in a road transfer to Mfuwe Airport, where you will board a flight to Blantyre, Malawi. A scenic 2-hour drive will deliver you to Mkulumadzi lodge in Majete. Your chalet is nestled on the banks of the Shire River, and enjoys views of the vistas from a private viewing deck.
Alongside trained and experienced guides, embark on game viewing excursions such as morning game drives, walking safaris and boating safaris. The Shire River is the perfect backdrop for viewing wildlife such as Elephant, Buffalo, Hippo and Crocodile.
If you have an interest in photography, be sure to watch the animals approach the waterhole for a drink of water. The viewing hides provide an unfiltered view of the free-roaming animals. Cultural interactions can be experienced during visits to the local villages. Spend leisurely time at the swimming pool, bird watching, or just watching the wildlife approach the waterhole and frolic in the river.
Days 8 - 10: Lake Malawi National Park, Malawi
A scenic drive, or alternatively a flight, will deliver you to the shores of Nankumba Peninsula. Bordering Lake Malawi National Park, the lodge is a wildlife-rich area that adds to a prolific list of wildlife species living in the lake's waters.
Your stay at Pumulani will be drenched in comfort, style, privacy and adventure. Your villa has a spacious bedroom and lounge area as well as a private viewing deck. Guests can dine in the alfresco restaurant or enjoy time at the communal bar and fire area. The lodge has its own swimming pool as well as direct access to the beach.
Water based activities include dhow cruises, water-skiing, wakeboarding, and tubing. If you prefer to feel the heat of the African sun, the lodge has land activities available as well. These include walking safaris, cycling routes, village tours and a day at the beach. As the night approaches, gaze up into an eternity of shimmering lights.
Day 11: Lilongwe, Malawi
A transfer will deliver you to Monkey Bay, where you will board a light aircraft to Lilongwe. Here you will meet your onward travel arrangements.
