Domwe Island has affordable, basic Lake Malawi accommodation with 3 fully furnished safari tents, shaded by thatch roofs, as well as two camping sites.
The main reception area includes a safari style dining and lounge area with handcrafted local furniture. Most of the materials and furnishings have been sourced locally in line with the camps sustainability ethos.
The camp uses solar power to heat water, and paraffin lamps for lighting. The lodge is fully committed to being eco friendly and makes use of composting toilets. Most of the cooking is done on gas stoves and all the staff is local and has been empowered through training programmes.
