Location of Kaya Mawa Lodge, Likoma Island

Kaya Mawa is the ideal destination for guests who wish to combine their Malawi safaris with the tranquility of an unspoilt African paradise.

Kaya Mawa Lodge is situated on the Likoma Island 12 kilometers from the Mozambican side of Lake Malawi. The easiest way to get to Kaya Mawa Lodge is by a private charter plane from Lilongwe.

By Boat

Kaya Mawa is situated on Likoma Island which can be found about half way up Lake Malawi, close to many beautiful beaches, great diving sites and an interesting local forest reserve. Those who are feeling adventurous can also catch the weekly steamer up the lake from Chipoka. The journey takes 36hours and is always an interesting experience.

Flying

To get to Kaya Mawa guests will have to fly to Lilongwe, usually via Johannesburg in South Africa. Once guests have cleared customs at Lilongwe airport, they will catch a chartered flight up to Likoma Island – the flight takes about an hour. You will land at the islands own airstrip which is only a short distance from Kaya Mawa.
