Safari Activities at Sausage Tree Camp

Sausage Tree Camp is well-equipped with game viewing vehicles, boats and canoes, allowing for the individual needs of the guests to be catered for on their Lower Zambezi National Park safari in Zambia.

Game Viewing

The Zambian safari location within Lower Zambezi National Park and on the banks of the Zambezi River means that half of the game viewing activities can be conducted by boat and canoes. The other half is land based and conducted by 4-wheel drive game viewing vehicles or bush walks.

During your stay in the Lower Zambezi, you will have a very good chance of seeing the following large mammals: Elephant, Hippo, Buffalo, Waterbuck, Zebra, Impala, Bushbuck and Kudu. Of the carnivores, there are solid numbers of Leopard, Lion and Hyena. Smaller animals include the Side-striped Jackal, Large Spotted Genet, Honeybadger, Porcupine and Aardvark.

Fishing

Fishing is also conducted on this Zambia vacation on the Zambezi River, and a strict catch-and-release policy applies to fishermen. The best catches of Tigerfish, Vundu and the Banded Tilapia can be hooked in the warmer months (September through to December).

Birding

Novice and experienced bird watchers will be fascinated by the array of 500 bird species that colour the African sky. Look out for the Ground Hornbill, Sadelbilled Stork and Roufous Bellied Heron during game viewing excursions.

Adventure Activities

Other highlights of the country are the spectacular Victoria Falls where a wide variety of adventure activities are available. These include white water rafting, bungee jumping, canoeing, gorge swinging, Elephant back safaris, jet boating on the rapids, to river boarding, micro-light or helicopter flips over the Falls, and river cruises.
