Position of Lemala Mara Tented Camp, North Serengeti

Year round wildlife numbers in the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania are high, intensifying further from June to November during the Great Migration.

Lemala Mara Tented Camp is located in a great position near the border of the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and the Masai Mara in Kenya. This western corridor is the channel for massive herds of Wildebeest, smaller numbers of Zebra and Thompson’s gazelle and many predators, as they move back and forth seasonally in search of fresh grazing.

Through June, July and August the Wildebeest continue moving through the area, crossing and re-crossing the Mara River before going north towards the Masai Mara, but several large herds remain behind. Weather changes influence when the vast herds come flooding back into the area from the Mara.

Predators pick off the weak, the stragglers and the young and Crocodiles feast as the herds cross the rivers, but this is part of the ancient great migration cycle and an unforgettable sight to witness. Migration and predator action lasts up to the end of October.

The Great Migration is one of the earth's great experiences - but it is by no means all the Serengeti has to offer. The landscapes are stunning and there is abundant wildlife all year round. The spectacular Lamai Triangle, Wogakuria Kopjes and Kogatende airstrip are all very easily accessible.
