Namibia is a country unlike any other in Africa. It boasts the big game of Africa but it is in the landscapes that it is unique. The world's oldest desert, the Namib, is a special attraction as is the world's second largest canyon, Fish River Canyon.

Apart from these unique features big game can be seen in Etosha National Park

Date of Independence

21.03.1990. Once the German colony of German South West Africa, Namibia became a protectorate of South Africa after the First World War. Despite this it has retained much of its German colonial influence.

After a protracted war of Liberation involving South Africa, Angola and Cuba an agreement was signed to allow Namibia to go to majority rule. Namibia was however recognized by the United Nations long before 1990.
